Nicola Spirig on 10th place at home World Championship
01.09.2019
After 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running, Nicola Spirig crossed the finish line in tenth place at the home World Championships. The 37-year-old from Bülach performed an enormous effort and a lot of leading work in the chasing group on the demanding bike course. In the meantime, she fought her way up to 6th place. In the final run Spirig, who had become mother for the third time a little more than four months ago, dropped back to 12th place. But on the last two kilometres she worked her way back into the top ten. The gold medal on the Olympic distance was won by the American Katie Zaferes.
By the way: On Saturday, 21 September 2019 Nicola Spirig will take part in the 40th Greifenseelauf Uster.
