Creating a better future for children and youth through sport!
I am committed to ensuring that as many children as possible have access to sport - especially triathlon - and the joy of exercise. Therefore I want to return something from my many years of competition to the sport. That's why I founded the Kids Cup in 2014.
Personally, thanks to the overwhelming support of my environment I was able to focus 100% on my goals already in my young years and fully develop my abilities in sport. My «Nicola Spirig Foundation» utilizes sport as an instrument to help young people and offer them the possibility to profit from the same prerequisites.
I take the well-being of our children and youth very seriously. This is why I support the Laureus Foundation and am actively committed to acting as the foundation's ambassador. The Laureus Foundation is active throughout Switzerland and makes use of the power of sports to bring about a positive change. It focuses on supporting the personal development of children and youth and on the integration of socially, economically or otherwise disadvantaged young people.
The «fit4future» project has grown to be Switzerland's largest health promotion campaign. More than 150,000 primary school children, their parents and around 10,000 teachers benefit from the scientifically supported initiative on the topics of exercise, nutrition and brain fitness (mental health). «fit4future» launched by the Cleven Foundation in 2005, offers schools and parents - always in cooperation with experts - events, further education and materials with the aim of influencing the living habits of young people in a playful and sustainable way.
The Solothurn TLS triathlon and duathlon centre is a regional centre of excellence for young athletes who are specifically supported. The task of the TLS is to support young talented triathletes and duathletes and to prepare them for a career as professional competitive athletes. The programme has the potential to increase the number of Swiss athletes competing at international level. The double burden of school and competitive sports is optimally coordinated.
